Advanced Beginner Skills in Neurofeedback
with Dr Mary Ammerman
17th January 2019 for 10 weeks
This course is designed for people who have already been through the 4-Day Introductory Neurofeedback Course. We will review 4 common EEG patterns associated with over and under arousal, ensure proper placement of 10-20 sites, and walk through each step of training a client, including explaining neurofeedback and setting realistic client goals, assessing symptoms, recording and interpreting 2 site mini maps, selecting and adjusting protocols, using effective coaching strategies, managing training thresholds, and evaluating client progress.

For Affiliates and Staff
At The Hummingbird Centre, it is our belief that to provide the best possible assessment and treatment to clients, our staff and affiliates need to work in a supportive and encouraging environment, where they are given plenty of opportunity to develop their skills and experience. In 2019, the Hummingbird Centre will offer multiple exclusive professional development opportunities for our staff and affiliates.
It can be difficult to organise and attend the training required to effectively provide our services. At The Hummingbird Centre, we endeavour to reduce the time and costs associated with travel and training registrations, by bringing the training to you. In 2019, some of our training opportunities include:
Autism Diagnostic Observation Schedule - Second Edition (ADOS-2)
The Autism Diagnostic Observation Schedule - Second Edition (ADOS-2) is a semistructured, standardised assessment of communication, social interaction, play, and restricted and repetitive behaviours. By observing and coding these behaviours, clinicians can obtain information that informs diagnosis, intervention, treatment planning, and educational placement.
The ADOS-2 requires formal and specific training. The Hummingbird Centre will offer our staff and affiliates the opportunity to participate in the ADOS-2 Training Package, which contains training videos on DVD and a Training Guidebook, in addition to the opportunity to work with, and be supervised by, several clinicians who have previously completed this training and performed autism assessments over several years.
We will discuss complexities of Autism diagnoses, the differences between Autism and other similar presentations (such as those on the trauma spectrum) and provide plenty of opportunity for hands-on practice.
Attachment, Regulation and Competency (ARC) Trauma Treatment for Children and Adolescents - 2 Day Certificate Course
The Hummingbird Centre will offer our staff and affiliates the opportunity to participate in a 2 day certificate training with a group of likeminded clinicians who have been implementing the ARC model into their treatment over several years.
Trauma Centre Trauma Sensitive Yoga (TCTSY) - 20 Hour Foundation Workshop
This official TCTSY workshop will introduce you to the core concepts and applications of the highly regarded, evidence-based yoga intervention of PTSD and Complex Trauma. This workshop is intended to support those working in the mental health field to bring the body into treatment when working with people affected by PTSD, developmental and/or complex trauma.
- The latest trauma theories and neurophysiology
- Theoretical underpinnings and methodology of the TCTSY model
- The research and evidence base involving TCTSY
- How to apply TCTSY principles to your practice
This workshop is an introductory course, and does not constitute certification in TCTSY.
At The Hummingbird Centre, we endeavour to reduce the time and costs associated with supervision costs, along with link you in with likeminded colleagues who provide similar services. In 2019, some of our supervision opportunities include:
- Regular supervision in neurofeedback with multiple international experts including Sebern Fisher, Mary Ammerman and Michelle Aniftos.
