Relational dynamics in the therapy room often hold the deepest clues about why clients continue to struggle. This workshop offers a grounded, accessible introduction to Relational Psychodynamic Therapy, supporting clinicians to recognise the subtle but powerful messages that take shape within the therapeutic relationship.
Across the day, you’ll explore how the relationship between therapist and client becomes a space where long-standing patterns re-emerge. You’ll learn how to notice shifts in connection, understand your own internal responses as meaningful clinical information, and create moments of shared insight that support lasting change.
Through discussion and short experiential exercises, you’ll leave with a clearer sense of how relational awareness and psychodynamic thinking can enrich your work, regardless of your primary modality.
What we’ll cover
- Key principles of Relational Psychodynamic Therapy
- How relational patterns emerge in-session
- The therapist’s role in working with subtle shifts and micro-moments
- Using your own emotional responses as clinical data
- Understanding rupture and repair as transformative processes
- Practical ways to integrate relational thinking into everyday practice
- Experiential exercises to strengthen observation and reflection skills
