Telehealth Psychology & Counselling Australia-Wide

Access Care Wherever You Are

At The Hummingbird Centre, based in Newcastle, NSW, we provide Telehealth psychology and counselling sessions for individuals, couples, and families across Australia.

Telehealth allows you to access therapy from the comfort of your own home – whether you live in Newcastle, Maitland, Lake Macquarie, or anywhere else in Australia. Using secure video or phone sessions, our clinicians deliver the same compassionate, confidential care as in-person appointments.

Does Therapy Work Over Telehealth?

Yes. Research shows that Telehealth therapy is just as effective as in-person sessions for most people.

Our clinicians have been using Telehealth for years to provide therapy, supervision, and training. After one or two sessions, most people find they feel connected and supported – some even prefer it for its flexibility and comfort.

Telehealth can be ideal if you:

  • Live in regional or remote areas of Australia

  • Find travel or mobility challenging

  • Prefer therapy in your own private, familiar space

  • Need to fit therapy around work, school, or family life

  • Want to stay connected while travelling or moving interstate

Common Concerns About Telehealth

“I’m worried I won’t feel as connected online.”

That’s a common concern, but most clients find Telehealth surprisingly natural after the first session or two. Once you and your therapist establish a rhythm, sessions feel just as meaningful and effective as face-to-face therapy.

“I’m not good with technology.”

That’s okay – we make it simple. We’ll send you a secure link for your session – just click to join. No complicated setup required. If you prefer, sessions can also be conducted over the phone.

If you experience any issues, our admin team can guide you step-by-step.

Security and Privacy

At The Hummingbird Centre, we take your privacy seriously.

We use secure, encrypted video platforms with end-to-end protection.

Your therapist may wear headphones or a headset for additional privacy. We recommend finding a quiet space, out of earshot of others.

All Telehealth sessions follow the same strict confidentiality and ethical standards as in-person therapy.
