Margaret is a Registered Psychologist whose work is grounded in a trauma-informed approach, shaped by over 15 years of experience as a frontline first responder. This background gives her a deep, practical understanding of trauma and the pressures of high-stress environments.
Based at our Newcastle office, Margaret supports individuals with compassion, steadiness, and genuine care as they navigate their healing journey.
Margaret is known for her collaborative and warm style, creating a calm and safe therapeutic space where clients feel heard, understood, and supported. She works with a range of evidence-based approaches, including Cognitive Behavioural Therapy (CBT), and has a strong focus on Eye Movement Desensitisation and Reprocessing (EMDR), an effective therapy for processing traumatic memories.
She has found EMDR particularly helpful for people impacted by trauma, including first responders, those who have experienced single-incident or childhood trauma, and individuals living with anxiety, depression, and post-traumatic stress.
Margaret is SIRA-accredited and accepts Work Cover clients.
She takes a holistic view of mental health, recognising the close relationship between mind and body. Margaret has a special interest in the gut-brain axis and the role of the gut microbiome in mental wellbeing, including its influence on mood, anxiety, and cognitive functioning.
