Mitch Pinchbeck is an independent consultant psychologist who provides services from The Hummingbird Centre.
Mitch is passionate about supporting clients to better understand and manage their mental health, emotions, and life challenges. He works collaboratively, developing strong therapeutic relationships and providing education and skills to help clients reduce distress and build confidence in navigating their difficulties. Mitch is committed to destigmatising mental health through practical, evidence-based care.
Mitch is experienced in a range of therapeutic approaches, including Schema Therapy, Eye Movement Desensitisation and Reprocessing (EMDR), Cognitive Behavioural Therapy (CBT), Dialectical Behaviour Therapy (DBT/RO-DBT), Mindfulness, Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT), and Solution-Focused Therapy (SFT).
He also provides psychological assessments for individuals aged seven and above, including:
- ADHD
- Police medical reviews
- Personality and cognitive functioning
- Functional and skills assessments
- Occupational and trauma-focused assessments
- Mini-Mental State Examinations
- Dissociation assessments
Mitch works with clients across the lifespan, from children to older adults. His primary areas of interest include trauma-related conditions (such as Borderline Personality Disorder, PTSD, and dissociation) and maladaptive coping. He also works with anxiety disorders (generalised, social, panic, obsessive-compulsive), mood disorders (depression, bipolar disorder, complicated grief), neurodevelopmental conditions (Autism, ADHD, intellectual disability), psychotic disorders, and addiction (including sexual behaviour and substance-related difficulties).
In addition, Mitch has extensive experience in occupational psychology, working with current and former members of the Australian Defence Force and elite athletes. Mitch completed his two Graduate Diplomas at the University of Newcastle and the Australian College of Applied Psychology and holds a Bachelor’s degree from the United States. He is an Associate Member of the Australian Psychological Society (APS).
