Carmel is a registered psychologist who works with adolescents, adults and couples. She uses evidence-based approaches and aims to create a warm and genuine environment where clients feel safe to be themselves.
Carmel takes a holistic, collaborative and person-centred approach. She meets clients where they are and works alongside them to improve their wellbeing and experience of life.
Carmel has supported people experiencing depression, bipolar disorder, anxiety, obsessive-compulsive disorder (OCD), autism, ADHD, grief, trauma, relationship and friendship difficulties, workplace concerns, domestic violence, parenting challenges, self-harm and suicidal thoughts.
She also has experience conducting assessments for ADHD, intellectual disability, mood disorders, anxiety disorders, OCD and eating disorders.
Carmel enjoys working with couples and uses the Gottman Method of Couples Therapy. She brings a gentle and thoughtful approach to helping couples navigate the vulnerabilities and complexities of their relationships.
Her therapeutic approaches include Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT), Schema Therapy, Cognitive Behavioural Therapy (CBT), Motivational Interviewing, Dialectical Behaviour Therapy (DBT), mindfulness, Exposure and Response Prevention (ERP) for OCD, and Behavioural Activation for depression.
When working with adolescents, Carmel values involving supportive family members in the therapeutic process where appropriate.
