Ashleigh Fitzgerald is an Accredited Mental Health Social Worker and independent consultant who provides services from The Hummingbird Centre.
Ashleigh is a highly experienced clinician who has worked for many years within NSW Health inpatient and community mental health teams. She provides holistic treatment to families experiencing mental health and attachment concerns, with a focus on strengthening relationships between parents, children, and adolescents.
Ashleigh enjoys working with adolescents and supporting young people in their formative years. She also provides therapy for adults and children across a variety of presentations, including trauma, domestic abuse, grief and loss, depression, anxiety, borderline personality disorder, and relationship challenges.
Ashleigh is committed to creating a safe, empathic, and non-judgemental environment for all clients, including couples wishing to explore their relationships. She works collaboratively with couples addressing infidelity, emotional distress, communication difficulties, and other relational issues.
Ashleigh’s therapeutic approach currently incorporates Cognitive Behavioural Therapy (CBT), Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT), mindfulness-based approaches, elements of Dialectical Behaviour Therapy (DBT), and Eye Movement Desensitisation and Reprocessing (EMDR).
Her particular passion lies in perinatal mental health, including antenatal and postnatal anxiety, depression, and grief and loss following stillbirth or miscarriage. With over a decade of experience supporting families through perinatal loss in acute settings, Ashleigh brings deep empathy, warmth, and understanding to this work.
